A short excerpt from my WIP
Evie applied her makeup carefully hoping to cover the dark smudges under her eyes. After the ‘incident’ in her dream, sleep had evaded her.
She let out a breath before giving herself a once-over. Her stylish suit wouldn’t fool Matteo. He knew what she’d done with Antonio. But then, she had seen what he’d done with the caterer.
She shook her head. It was her own damn fault for giving in to her urges but Antonio had been so…
With a frown, she grabbed her handbag and made her way to her car. She took one last look in the rear-view mirror. Her lips were red and plump. Would Matteo know she had dreamt about him last night?
She groaned. She had to get that man out of her head.
On arrival at the gallery, she quickly walked to her office hoping to avoid seeing Matteo but as she was about to enter the room, he came around the corner.
Damn, but he looked good. Dressed in a dark, tailor-made suit that fitted him perfectly, Matteo’s scorching gaze met hers. A shiver of excitement settled right between her legs and she had to remember to breathe.
He silently stared at her, his gaze sending shockwaves over her skin. She quickly turned away.
“Miss Dubois,” he said huskily and she had no choice but to look at him. “I hope you slept well.”
She stared at him in alarm. Did he know?
“Evie!” Antonio’s voice carried down the hall and her gaze shifted. He moved toward her with a large grin on his face.
He took her hand and kissed it before pulling her into his arms. “Bella, you smell amazing,” he whispered and kissed her mouth. His lips were warm and heated her insides, reminding her of too many things.
Slightly embarrassed to have Matteo witness Antonio's spirited greeting, she smiled weakly and turned to look at him. He was gone.
